There is a huge part of me that lives by the thought “If you believe that life is worth living, the belief will help create the fact.” Fortunately for me, I believe the best gift I’ve ever been blessed with, is the gift of expression. An expression that allows me to bare my heart, understand my instincts, respect my surroundings, accept the criticism, and embrace the unlimited positivity and love that comes along with it. But as easy as it is to express, there comes an immense amount of responsibility that you represent when encountering the numerous voices that challenge your stance, knowledge or opinion. As much as one would like this world to be free of judgements and negativity, the only way I believe you can combat that dilemma, is through a voice that not only raises awareness, but one that educates through knowledge and instills the importance of doing charity, simply by standing up for a cause.
Therefore, ever since the conceptualization and concept of this blog, the one question I constantly kept asking myself was- “Who Am I”? Like I have always said, I speak with a desire to bring about a positive change, with the hope that it generates enough buzz and leaves an impact on those who can resonate with my emotions and passion, through the words I express.
Having been born in Mumbai, I grew up in Oman & lived in the Middle East for 20 years, until I went to America (New York) for for studies, to get my undergraduate degree in Communication Studies & Mass Media at Pace University. Living in America for 6 glorious years was not only life transforming but it perfectly put things into perspective that being an Indian by citizen, a resident in the middle east and a student in America, gave me enough of a reason to consider myself as an ‘Outsider’ by image, but very much ‘Local’ in my thought and perspective of life. Hence, The Local Outsider.
So here I am, wanting to shed some light on those things that I’m exposed to and in direct contact with daily, and those things that have held an integral role in my life in making me the person that I am today. There is so much to say and so much to share, but truly- In Life, you only live once. But if you do it right, once is enough.
